I read this book many years ago, and liked it. I want to re-read it after traveling to Ireland and learning more of its rich history

This is proving to be a great covid read.

I'm amazed at page 166 the protagonist Kunta Kinte is still in the village in Africa. So much detail about the tribal traditions and rites of passage as the boy becomes a man. Fascinating

After finishing my previous book about halfway through a 10 hour flight, I read an article in Sky magazine about Oprah being in the movie version of this book. The movie is coming out this month, and I've always wanted to read this book, and the bookstore in the Atlanta airport had it, and the wifi was not working in ATL, and I had a 3 hour layover.... it was meant to be!

Im so absorbed by this book. WW2 era stories are among my favorites and this one is very engaging.

I chose this as a "not-so-scary" Stephen King book to read after taking a Stephen King tour while on vacation in Bangor. So far so good! Can hardly put the book down.

Page 201 contains one of the best lines I've read in a long time. Granada is trying to understand and learn how Polly Shine heals people. Granada is disappointed "they ain't no hoodoo"and while she is falling asleep, Polly Shine whispers in her ear: "In the beginning God created. That's all anybody need to know about God, Granada. It ain't never over with God.". I'm really getting into this book now.

I was more than half-way through this book, but just couldn't deal with the snooty, spoiled young ladies anymore. Deleted it from my NOOK

I'm 2 chapters in, slow start due to a house project, and this guy is a bit of a potty mouth. Im not a language prude by any means, but every page seems to have an f-bomb.

Love this book!

I vow to finish this book this week. Cannot wait to start something new because this one is torture.

Still unable to make heads or tails of this book. Almost halfway through!

Trying this book again, this time on the Nook, where it is easier for me to look up words. And there is a LOT of that in the first 26 pages. It is slow-moving and I wish the sample was longer than 26 pages. However I am starting to get slightly hooked and based on friends' encouragement will probably buy the full version.

Minimum security but not even past the first month of the author's 15 month sentence and I know that Federal prison is someplace I never ever want to be.

What?? Lost by page 12 of >500. Hmm, maybe will try this one again another time.

Not really sure what this book is about but the guy seems quite crazy and everyone else seems sad or remorseful, willing but unable to help him. I am reading it on my Nook, which I haven't used in several months. It is taking some time to re - acquaint myself with reading an e book.

Time for a Christmas story!

Hm. I'm tired of reading about the sad state of affairs in prison and ready for something to happen.
