I understand why, in theory, it COULD be a good idea to have an author narrate for their audiobook, but for so many reasons it is usually not additive, and can detract. I think this is a case of the latter, and I’m trying to hear past it to determine if I am enjoying this…

I’ve now heard the word “rictus” 5x more times in the course of this story than I ever have in heard it in my life
But like, I think I mean that in a good way?

Can’t decide if this deserves to really be two separate books, or if there was some sharp editing that could’ve been done to focus it a bit.

How exactly are there six plus hours left still?

Okay there have been at least three scenes now where I’ve lost the thread even after a reread, and am either losing my ability to read subtext or there’s not nearly enough context to make the description make sense.

Ok…. We’ve now wandered down one too many magical, dark hallways with unique Named characters at the end of them looking at our party intimidatingly/appraisingly…
The pacing is, at the very least, at a brief stutter-step

If her writing + Shiromi Arserio’s voice felt like a cold refreshing drink on a hot, humid day to me in TBK, they feel like a bowl of warm soup on the first misty day of autumn here. Lovely
