I read eight chapters and quit. Initially I was intrigued by the idea of historic home renovations and Southern history being intertwined into a fiction story. Jack is introduced and it seemed obvious that this is a story about Jack and Melanie and ghosts. Perhaps the story will develop differently than I’m expecting but I already dislike both Melanie and Jack so it’s not worth it to continue.

Quit before I finished chapter two. This reads like a teenager wrote it. Too much cussing and trashy, glib drama for my taste.

I was captivated by the explanations of surviving in the wilderness, haunted by the sheer evil of the villains, and bonded quickly with the main characters. When i had to put the book down, i found myself thinking about the plot and the characters. This book is well written and easy captivates the reader and draws you into the story. I’m definitely going to read more of this author.
