I... What? The first page of chapter one and I'm already thinking about quitting. The hell?

I picked this up after we discussed chick lit in school. I wanted to see whether there could be any literary merit found even in erotica. The answer is no, but I suppose people don't really read these for their canonical nature. It can still be studied, but more so through the lens of cultural studies. Anything can be studied if you set your mind on it.

Talk about insta love and girls with very swayed sense of self-worth. What even?

So are we going to address the fact that her father is 100 percent abusive?

IIIIII seriously don't know how I feel about this. But in the name of broadening my horizons, I'm determined to finish it. And it's low-key entertaining if a bit, well, mildly problematic.

Okay, despite that chiseled chest on the cover (which I do appreciate, don't get me wrong, but mosty isn't a beacon of quality literature) this books is fuuuuuun. It's like a good old-fashioned wattpad book with a semblance of a substance. Trashy at it's finest and I'm 100 % here for it.

Oh no, she's breaking the fourth wall. Nope. Nah, nah, nah. Don't make you YA character say she's acting like a character from a young adult novel. Ever. Please. It's never a good way to connect with the audience. Trust me.

Oh, yeah, also what twenty-year-old has, give or take, a thousand bucks to spare on a weekend trip to Rome? These kids are going to die of starvation in no time if they keep splurging like this.

WHAT EVEN? These people have spontaneously decided to go to Rome for the weekend? I thought we were talking, like, Oxford and Cambridge, Edinburgh at best, maybe Paris if they managed to get train tickets. Not bloody ROME. Europe is not bite-sized. I live 8 hours away from Prague, 5 hours form Vienna, and about 6 from Budapest and I barely ever go because traveling takes PLANNING. What is happening? Who wrote this?

Also all museums in England are definitely not free. The major ones? Sure. But try going to the Sherlock Holmes museum for free and see what happens.

This girl just called the Tube "clean". Has she been to the same London I've been to? Because, yeah, the Baker Street is nice and all, but then you get to those stations where you have to walk down a mile long stretch of metal stairs that feel like they are about to give in any moment now and you get to a corridor that seems more like a pipe-lined cave and you find yourself praying those damn CCTV cameras work.

A couple pages in and the dialog is already giving me a headache. Exclamation points in radom places, super awkward interactions that seem to be written by someone who's never been in a social situation, and 20 year old who act like middle schoolers. Wonderful.

But yes, yes they are. They are going to live in Texas, very happily, with a bunch of dogs, and I'm willing to make a long-winded power point presentation on why that should be a thing.

Main reading challenge for April: finish all the ASOIAF books that keep staring at me from my bookshelf, very menacingly, may I add (need to get a head start on my general reading challenge because these thicc babies are going to take a minute)

Nora is, hands down, the most hypocritical, annoying, self-centered protagonist I have ever encountered. And don't even get me started on her very lenient moral code. C'mon. I want someone to hit her with a shovel. HARD.

Wow. Just wow. Using "anorexic" as an insult is so classy. Because having an eating disorder is totally something to laugh about. These 2012 books are killing me, I swear.

Know what's nice? Being fluent in a Slavic language therefore understanding most of the very extra vocab. God bless Europe.

Here we are. Back to this godforsaken series. I have my mind very much set on finishing it sooner rather than later so I can get to... better books. And I also feel like reading something veeery trashy.
