Not going to lie, Tim Curry using Nigel Thornberry's voice for Professor Lidenbrock is elevating this for me a lot more than it probably should.

Hopefully I'll read the rest of this at a faster rate than the 312 pages per year record I have currently.

Finished with Rohan, Helm's Deep, and the Ents at Isengard, so now onto the second half, which is entirely Sam and Frodo's adventures. This narrator's really good at doing Gollum's voice, I'll give him that.

Listening to Treebeard on 2x normal speed so he speaks at the same speed as every other character.

I'll die happy if I ever write anything half as good as the magic talking foxes that speak entirely in Le Carre-style spycraft and eat cheese puffs.

Just reached Part 2, which Riley has promised me includes witches, so looking forward to that!

I suppose if I too were the Devil, I would also spend most of my time fucking with people and hanging out with my cat

March update: After three months, 20% of the way through!

Could be better, could be worse when it comes to getting the entire 1000 page book read this year. Of the thirteen short stories I've read so far, my favourite was Shirley Jackson's The Summer People (not to be completely predictable, but it really is a great story!). Stephen King's The Reach was pretty good too.
