This is an astoundingly well-done book

I haven't been this engrossed in a book in a while. Other fantasy novels have kept my attention and even spurred me to read, but this one is the first in months to make me stay up late, reading until I literally pass out and drop my Kindle Paperwhite off the side of the bed.

Still great. Loving all the geek culture references. Sometimes awkward, but only rarely. Found the sequel on Amazon for preorder and went ahead and bought it for later this summer.

I really enjoyed how this started. It felt like a mix of Oscar Wao and The Dresden Files. Can't wait to dig in more.

I'm still not the biggest fan of this one. I'm kind of sad because I remember really enjoying the first one.

It's okay so far. The first one was better. This has promise, but I do hope the characters eventually move away from being such stereotypes. Not just archetypes, but stereotypes. I do enjoy the world he's created though, so I'm likely to read the others even if this one doesn't pan out.

I rarely spend an evening just reading, but after I returned home from my faculty retreat today, I pretty much read this until my wife got home from work. Then picked it back in after she went to bed. Have I mentioned how little I typically enjoy nonfiction and memoir?

I relate to so much of this. Like Josh, I grew up the bookish Mormon kid people picked on (I was fat, rather than having Tourette's), so I'm really falling into it.

Hilarious so far. It's like talking to my wife about her work day (she does PR and programming for a public library).

Seriously one of the best books I've read in years. I was really intimidated by the book being over 1k pages, but holy cow, I can't put it down. I'm even reading in line as I wait places.

I'm roughly a quarter of the way through this one, and it's the second indie book I've ever read. It has a few awkward phrasings here and there, but it's pretty compelling. I haven't connected 100% with the characters yet (Reza the protagonist, for instance, acts much older during the first part of the novel than he is supposed to be), but the concept is cool enough I'm sticking with it.
