This is powerfully boring for a murder mystery

Excuse me!!! You find a mysterious map in a secret library that leads you to a hidden lair in a remote hill, containing some kind of cosmic doomsday device guarded by an armored octopus, and then you just - go back to the story??????

It does give this book a very different vibe knowing that dying isn’t a do-over, and that in fact death is a total unknown at this point, which totally changes the stakes. Good plot point

Ok this guy needs to get off the barf inducing gross bro train - I’m not buying the “but I loved my girlfriend and she dumped me” and “I’m on the side of women as I am inconsiderate ass and judge every woman I meet on their looks” Be redeemed tout suite or I am quickly done with this novel - it’s soooooooo gross

I have to say, this author is the master of creating unlikeable characters and then making them relatable by the end of the book. Cause right now, this MMC is sooooo gross and nasty

We’re finally at the Halloween party that has been a major plot point in this book, and they take time out for like a 20 page sex scene. 🙄

I love the world building here - everyone is trapped in their own timeline but if you can find your people you can hand something off as a child to an old man, who can then hand it to an old man in his next-born childhood - it’s such a practical sounding time travel.
