i need to be stopped, this is unhealthy

i'm really hoping that despite the MC's very narrow view of the world, that I end up liking this but i think this will end the way i think it will. I just don't think its crazy to expect more complex storytelling from YA, there are plenty of YA and middle grade that achieve this

Anyway its kind of giving Beauty and the Beast except they're both lowkey Belle and the Sun is the Beast. They are 100% going to fall in love and then somehow the rule that's been in place forever will somehow bend for them

so this girl Aurora is gonna be irritating the whole book ne, i just can't stand characters who are always jumping to conclusions and making their own assumptions based on limited facts, as an incredibly nosy person who is always asking questions.

i resent it a bit that Diem is written as this hot headed girl who can't control her emotions and that's what's making her bad at her job when really its the fact that she has no political acumen to speak of and at the age of 20 has been handed rule over a divided nation but also can she just control herself omg her dad gives her advice and she loses it and shoves him away again, like Diem grow up pls

and Diem, babe, use that big brain of yours I AM BEGGING! she's really so unlikable, like the only reason she hates Luther is bc she's lowkey so down bad for him and she can't regulate her emotions... pls dear lord girlypop, stop assuming things, you know what they say about people who assume

freaking Henri is out here playing the pronoun game so that Diem will do her Diem thing and jump to conclusions, I BET is was the cousin who killed that kid and not Luther (who at this point has only proven himself to be perfect?) seriously why is Henri still here?

only 45 pages in and I can already tell you that this book does not have enough Corey Barrion 😒
