Ok, so far I’ve been very happy with the pacing and the characters. But there’s one thing that just isn’t sitting well with me, and that’s all the sexual advances while holding Joel’s niece. I mean, I know she’s an infant and doesn’t understand—but there are some things that are done between Willa and Joel that can seriously wait until the baby is in her crib. Please.

I sincerely love Violet’s brother Tim. He’s such an innocent character without coming off as naive. He’s way more capable and intelligent than the other characters give him credit for.

Umm...as Alejandro said...why are you taking the dog? Into the Green? With toxic air?

I’ll just say this: a guy who takes the time to save the dog is totally my hero! ❤️❤️❤️

At Chapter 12—The more I get to know the Williams brothers, the more I keep seeing Stefan and Damon from “Vampire Diaries.” Scott=Stefan; David=Damon...and poor Haley=Katherine/Elena. And while I’m having a hard time seeing how anyone could fall for David, we all know how easy it is to fall for Damon. Sooooo...

Chapter 18—Ok. So T goes to France for six months. With G. Comes back and basically expects R to be waiting for him. And has the audacity to say she left him?? needs to stop punishing him??? and come home to him??? WHAT IS THIS GUY SMOKING?!?

End of Chapter 12—These characters confuse the hell out of me. Here’s where we’re at this far: R is in love with T. T has a gf G. R and T sleep together. R becomes the mistress. T is apparently in love with R. G brings in brother E. E begins to seduce R. T sleeps with G but is jealous of E. T runs home to R to make sure she didn’t sleep with E—even though he just slept with G—his girlfriend.

Ok, so him calling her “cupcake” was cute for about two seconds. Now it just makes me want to gag. Enough with the cupcake!

Ok. I have to get something off my chest here, both as a reader and a writer. WHY MUST ALL ROMANCE NOVELS WHEN WRITTEN IN THE GUY’S PERSPECTIVE ALWAYS END UP RUINING THE MAGIC WITH THE GUY TALKING ABOUT HIS PENIS? Like, I get it. He’s aroused. He doesn’t have to mention it three times in the span of two pages.

Best character award goes to Walter the famous author! I’m pretty much in love with the old man. Paraphrasing when Reed must ask Walter to convince Ivy to go out with Reed—Walt: “Are you an attorney?” Reed: “Yes.” Walt: “Then not just no, but hell no.” LOVE WALTER!

Ok. The ex is giving me whiplash. One minute she’s sexually assaulting the poor guy and the next she’s trying to play matchmaker and urging him to woo Ivy. Insane much?

Well ok then. Lust at first sight. Both have sworn off relationships. A crazy ex groping him in his office and not taking the hint. This took quite a turn.

The one thing that’s keeping me reading is that the author seems to know what she’s doing in how she handles the tragic/horrific event that Ivy has experienced. That said, I’m still struggling to get past that part of the book mostly because it was so dark and triggering.

I’m trying to push past the traumatic/horrific event to develop a little further in mainly because most of the reviews are positive. That said, I don’t know if I’ll be able to enjoy the romance portion of the book after what initially happened to the MC. We’ll see I suppose.

I'm still very confused about the supposed ages of the characters. I was under the assumption that the level 8s were supposed to be around 8 years old, but they seem more around the age of 13 (8th graders). They're much too mature and well spoken for 8 year olds.

This book is insane, but in a really interesting way. I'm chilled to the bone at how small the gap is between our current society and the one depicted here.

I am literally in tears and trying to control my emotions right now. As much as I hated Donavon for what he did to Talia, I can't take what just happened.

"She's the last one. Ever." WHAT THE EVER LOVING SHUCK?!?

I just don't know. The writing is frustrating. The characters are frustrating. If I fall asleep mid chapter, I doubt I'll read anymore because right now I'm bored out of my mind. Nothing has happened to make me care about the characters, and the main character Jade is grating on my nerves.

I'm not quite sure yet how I feel about this book. I like the premise, and it's not too hard to suspend disbelief. But I can't help feeling that the story is moving too fast in some ways and too slow in others. It's off balance.

And now...mom and dad are getting remarried. Because yeah, marrying your ex husband who cheated on you with your daughter's 18 year old best friend is totally a good idea. I can't even...

And now...In what effed up universe do you invite your husband's ex WHO ATTACKED YOU WITH A THERMOS to your wedding?!?! Really?!?! REALLY!!!!

So much for being just friends and taking things slow...

Not even the dog is safe from the drama...sigh. Poor Skippy.
