Doing the audiobook this go around, but checked my hardcover and found my old bookmark. Apparently I got 79% of the way through the first time…how did I not finish!? Think I just stopped because I was busy. Have so little memory of this book.

started this 9 years ago and never finished, hoping to have better luck this time.

Gus is a delight

a slow burn in the most satisfying way, brick by brick the towers of the wicked will fall.

I’m really enjoying this. Dantès is such a great character. Nothing profound here, just get giddy every time I have a chance to jump back in.

I had a friend tell me forever ago that her favorite chapter of this was the house of healing…having just read it, I get it. Such a beautiful addition to the lore and magic of middle earth.

Also, the amount of lines from this chapter that were scattered throughout Jackson’s movie trilogy, so much respect for those writers.

okay I did not remember everything that went down with Fanny from the movie, this book is drama! but also loving the slow burn romance so much <3

I thought Bathsheba Everdeen was swimming in eligible suitors (three) but Emma M Lyon is truly a wonder (four, five if you count the unintended intended).

one entry in and Hawkes may by favorite character now, one I always enjoyed immensely but continues to delight. also Hawkes is Josh O’Connor in my mind and no one can tell me otherwise.
