This book is hilariously absurd: “The natural consequence of dating not only a sunshine woman but also one who is a teacher is that sooner or later you’re going to end up adjacent to lederhosen.”

I just realized that Charleigh Rose’s novella “Yard Sale” actually should be labelled “Bad Love #1.5” because in this book Cam and Mollie are already together. this is annoying. Anyone know how to ask Goodreads to fix it?

I’m finishing this book on principle, but at 90% I still hate the heroine. I can’t deal with this quantity of insecurity and self loathing. Josh deserves someone better which would be basically anyone.

Unfortunately Amber isn’t a very appealing character either so I won’t bother with the sequel. Karina Halle is a great writer but this isn’t the first one of her female leads that I couldn’t bear.

I really wanted to like this book but the very promising heroine turned bitchy and insecure and at halfway, Josh is still saying he likes being with her and I can’t fathom why.

This is remember-worthy:

“A kiss is a save the date, an RSVP to my vagina that says: You. Will. Be. There.”

I really dislike this female narrator. I loved Stephanie in The Pact, so the only reason I can fathom that I HATE her in this book is the really annoying way she's being read. I love audio books - except when the reading ruins them for me.

Dear lord but her "child" voice is irritating. However I prefer the female narrator's Bram voice to the male's.

(1 hr 40 min) First impression of male narrator: Antony Ferguson sounds like a Scottish name, but his accent seems not quite genuine. His Rs are too smooth and he sounds more English than Scottish. His female voices are a little drag queen, but I've heard worse. Overall I'm disappointed they didn't keep the narrators who read The Pact. However I often find the accents improve as the book goes on so fingers crossed.

(14 minutes not pages) First impression of female narrator: Nicole Poole's voice is not that of a "pretty girl". She sounds more like someone people would call a "handsome'woman". This is a common problem with female narrators who also do a decent male voice. And she not only does a decent male voice, she actually does a fairly respectable Scottish accent. So I'll forgive her.

(45 minutes) Kill me now. Another 12 minutes of career talk, this time between Samantha and a colleague about whom we give literally no fucks. Finally they have gotten a look at each other on the highly anticipated "vid con". Now they gush over each other's looks. Logan finds Samantha "exotically stunning." Yech. There'd better be sex soon.

(33 minutes) Chapter two is not better. Skip it also. To recap the story to this point - Samantha isn't sure she wasnts to transfer to Dallas. Logan hears good things about Samantha, especially her legs. Much discussion of an upcoming "vid con" (gag) in which they will meet for the first time. Logan is apparently very tall. Sandwiches are consumed. Move on to chapter three and hope for improvement.

(Progress is minutes not pages) Holy shit. 23 minutes and literally nothing but job background. Finally it switches to Logan's perspective and it's HIS impressions of her resume. If this was in print I'd have skimmed this far in two minutes or less. I'm not sure I'm going to survive this one in audio version.

Dear lord, this better be as good as reviews say because I've now heard 15+ minutes on nothing but this woman's very boring career. This is the set-up. Five minutes max. Let's move it along.
