I liked this book as much as Norwegian by Night. I just love the character Sheldon Horowitz
I listened to this and enjoyed the narrator.

Well written, but such a tough situation for a family. I seriously considered stopping half way through because it seemed so depressing. I’m a parent of 2 grown sons and I relied heavily on my faith and husband during times of stress. I don’t know if I would have it in me to navigate this. My heart hurt for each member of this family. I may have missed it but don’t recall any mention of Christianity, just Buddhism.

I enjoyed it. Some of it was so familiar and a part of my upbringing. Some stuff I had never heard of.

I was hoping for more. It read like a diary. Clearly, I am sad for Maude that she only experienced true love for a few short years with James and that social mores forced her to marry an emotionally barren man after just a handful of dates. She had a lot of heartache. I would not recommend this book.
