Over the weekend many authors began voicing criticism over the RITA Awards (and rightfully so. just look at the data surrounding the awards and how few marginalized authors win). Let me just say- I have seen several white authors show their asses over this. At best they have said very disappointing things- but several have made flat out racist and homophobic comments. My "Authors to Never Read" list is growing.

I'm about halfway through Christmas Wore Plaid and I was nervous to read it as it is about childhood friends/teenage loves who have been kept apart for seven years, and usually in those stories (especially a historical) the woman has kept her virginity while the man has drowned his sorrows by sleeping around. I'm glad that they have *both* been with other people in this story because at least now it feels balanced

Okay. I hate him less: he owned his shit. He told the truth, didn't make excuses, genuinely apologized, told her he was still in love with her but he didn't push her into forgiving him because he knew her feelings were justified. Not only that but he offered to give her as much time as she needed to decide where they stood because he would wait for her. So good job author at making the hero grow into a likable person

Chase's mother is my favorite person. She told him what fucking day it was and that if she was in Rae's shoes she would feel/treat him the same way. She basically ripped through all the excuses he's been making for his actions and told him to own up. Hallelujah!

"I thought the longer I stayed, the angrier she'd be with me and that she'd talk to me. I didn't think she'd give me the silent treatment for as long as she has." ..she gave you the silent treatment because you stole her dream/ideas and ruined her livelihood. And you keep arguing that she's being unreasonable when you've admitted to yourself that she has every right to hate you. When am I supposed to start liking him

Am I supposed to like the hero? Am I supposed to think that he loved her so much and was so upset that she left that his answer was to destroy her dreams? Because he "loved" her and wanted her back? Yes, I am so glad that TWO YEARS LATER he can admit this was bad for him to do.... but he's still doing it. Even now. This author is gonna have to work damn hard for me to like this son of a bitch by the end.

The book is okay so far, but the hero and heroine just met and the author decided that the hero would be able to sense that the heroine had been hurt before because she was "guarded and suspicious" during there interaction.. DUH she was guarded. You are a random man she met in the woods and you were hostile/berated her the entire time. I get that the author wanted him to sense her past but doing it this way is weird.

the story is interesting but I will be incredibly disappointed if Julia does not kick Lucian in the balls at some point (I'm actually sad it hasn't happened already)

I'm so glad he came back and told her he had been jealous. I was yelling at him in my mind during the previous conversation when he had the chance to mention it but didn't

This hero is such an idiot. He's in love with her but he's so scared of being rejected that his actions just come across as wishy washy. he takes two steps forward with her then one step back. ugh.

I feel so bad for Missy right now. Graham has met her numerous times, even walked down the aisle with her when they were the best man and maid of honor at their friends wedding, but he doesn't even remember her and apparently never looked twice at her until she wore a sexy dress. this author is going to have to work really hard to make me root for this man okay? I already want her to find someone else

thank you, Graham, for the details of your past sex life to segue into how you are thirteen days into celibacy. you're nearly a priest *rolls eyes until they fall out*

I liked Simply Irresistible (book one), but The Sweetest Thing (book 2) is destroying my heart right now. Watching Tara try to connect with the daughter she gave up for adoption is making me cry

Gage redeemed himself for his earlier thoughts but now we get this from Clint (hero from book one):
"Those two supermodels are YOUR sisters?" Clint asked, which gained him his wife's elbow to his ribs. He looked at her. "What?"

Look I like when books represent average women (like myself), but if authors could stop having the FREAKING HEROES OF THE SERIES say rude things about their appearance that would be great

hooray for Gage having really great thoughts about Bobby's appearance (the stuff earlier really rubbed me the wrong way)

Okay so apparently I do not like how Suzanne Ferrel writes the heroes inner monologues. Book 1's hero Clint bugged me, and now Gage is getting a little repetitive with his "Bobby's cute but not a knock out and her only outstanding feature is her ass" thoughts. ugh

okay i like this story so far but Clint is starting to piss me off with how often he refers to Emma's temperament. Of course the woman is tense/defensive with you! you went from being an ass and accusing her of being a neglectful parent, to barging into her life and taking over things by basically telling her she wasn't capable enough.. I wouldn't be too relaxed around you either

I'm only at 15% and I already teared up at the beautiful conversation taking place between Gavriel and Elizabeth ❤❤❤

So as much as I was bothered by the OW stuff on the first 2 or 3 pages, the action and super heavy events that immediately followed completely overshadowed that (whether or not it shows up again later and how it is handled will matter to me though). Claudia having a boyfriend also made it easier for me because it evens things up in my books (even if he is a jerk)

I'm only on the first few pages and the hero is thinking about (and texting) a woman he just got back from having his yearly sexual encounter with.... yuck. I will continue the book but I am really disappointed because none of the reviews I read indicated this..

WTF is going on in this book O_O??? does the h have muderous tendencies?? maybe I should take something more seriously when it has the word "horror" in it...

this book is absolutely DELIGHTFUL!
