The writing style isn't really doing anything for me, but that may partially be due to the translation itself. Also, the Kindle version doesn't hyperlink the footnotes which adds an extra layer of frustration. On the other hand, the interspersed artwork is stunning, and the book really does read very similar to a manga. I'll give it a little more time and see if it wins me over.

Things are getting more bleak as the book bears the end, and the most recent character death has absolutely devastated me.

Magical realism is my favorite genre ever, therefore my hopes for this book are high.

So far, the prose is beautiful and the humanity that has been depicted has already touched me a couple of times.

I love the show Ancient Aliens. When I was young, people told me fantastical, made-up stories to help me relax and sleep; the show gives me that same feeling in a similar way.

This book holds a similar sway on me so far. Extravagant claims told in a believable way are prevalent in the form of testimonials about extraterrestrial conspiracies.

Reading of holy texts should be encouraged from people of all religions. So far (from what I can tell) the Qur'an and the Bible are not so dissimilar. The ideas and principles espoused in this book are echoes of what can be found in the Bible; and of course, since the two share the same roots, there have already been multiple footnote references to verses in the Bible.

Interesting and informative.

I love stories that blend reality with fantasy to make something astounding feel familiar. The problem with this book so far is that so much of it feels like a slog. The magical parts don't feel like magic nearly as often as they should. And much of the description or exposition feels uninspired.

I am a huge fan of the Norton Critical Editions of books. They add so much insight and background to things that would typically go way over my head
