Shannon is starting The Anatomy of Murder
I was reading this book free online at Google Books, but partway through the file disappeared, and I couldn't even find an ebook for purchase. I enjoyed the chapters I read and hope to find a copy of it eventually so I can finish it.

Shannon is on page 29 of 416 of Music in Theory and Practice
I had just commented to my children (who were choosing next year's high-school classes) that I'd always wished I'd taken a music theory class, when I came across this textbook for 25 cents at a thrift shop. I saw it as an opportunity to teach myself!

I do wish the answers to the exercises were in the back -- I may be teaching myself, but I don't have the teachers' edition.

Shannon is on page 186 of 304 of Silent Bite (Andy Carpenter, #22)
I am getting ready for work, reading as I brush my teeth. The trial has just begun . . . the prosecution is making opening arguments . . . and suddenly I am back at a pretrial meeting in the defense attorney's office. Pages 187 through 218 have been replaced with a second copy of pages 155 through 186. What do I do now? I may never know how it ends!

Shannon is starting Figgs and Phantoms
I am (re)reading this one to fill the category of "a book from your childhood" for the library's summer reading club. I have a vague memory of reading it and being disappointed that it wasn't nearly as good as The Westing Game. Maybe adulthood will improve my opinion of it. At the very least, I've been amused by the note I'd put inside the front cover, asking for it to be returned if found "anywhere but my house."

Shannon is starting Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other
I'm not sure what to think of the fact that the library has only an electronic copy of this book.

Shannon is starting The Distance Between Us
My daughter has been binge-reading Kasie West books, and I started "eavesdropping" on this audio book while she was listening to it. (It was actually on my to-read list before she checked it out.) Now, while she's at school, I have to go back and listen to the parts I missed.

Shannon is starting Finding God in Unexpected Places
My copy is a 1995 edition, so I don't expect to read about Ground Zero.

Shannon is starting Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2
I'd hoped to reread the rest of the series before picking up this one, but I decided I better get started now because I want to finish them all before my 12-year-old, and he's almost done with Book 7.

Shannon is starting Free for All: Oddballs, Geeks, and Gangstas in the Public Library
I checked out this book to reminisce about the job I held 1-6 years B.C. (Before Children), but I realized that I could write a book about my current job (15 years later) and only have to change one word in the title. (Hint: I'm a substitute teacher.)
