Wow! Very violent and the sound effects makes it all so much more visceral.

I need to remember to listen to these audiobooks more and work through my collection. They are so fun.

I really should have paid attention when it said teen, young adult.

I’m only a little bit in but I’m loving this abridged, immersive adaptation. I say abridged because I think the full unabridged audiobook is much much longer. But even abridged, far as I can tell, it stays mostly true to the original work.

Fabulous writing, really shitty hero.

It was okay, but eh, it didn’t grab me even though I’d seen other people rave about it. It just seemed tired and repetitive. It’s a me thing.

I got bored. I’m not sure what it was but it didn’t hold my interest and I have zero desire to go back to it.

Read this graphic novel just to admire the art. It’s stunning.

Doing a re-listen to the audiobook because why not?

Really enjoyed this reread. I remembered nothing so it was pretty much like reading it for the first time all over again.

Oh yeah, still thoroughly enjoying the book.

Ah Mick, so glad you came to your senses.

The writing is exhausting, full of cliches, and has zero originality.

Huh, I had no idea this is a reread. Mind, that was 8 years ago and all I remembered was the cover looked familiar. Good news, even eight years later, the writing and storytelling holds up. I’m enjoying the heck out of it.

Doing another reread since this is very much a comfort-read for me, albeit a very spicy one…

Vander Norcross with a baby. Sigh…

Why is this so slapstick and farcical? Why did no one warn me? Why the hype? Note to self: never fall for the hype. NEVER!!!

Aside from the story sounding ridiculous and it's so trope-heavy and bonkers, the female narrator (I'm assuming) has made a deliberate choice to pitch the heroine's character in the upper squeaky high pitch hurt your ears register. It is literally hurting my ears and my brain to listen to her.

Wow, the heroine's narrator's voice is like nails on a chalk board and all that bubblegum false cheer is making me want to hurl something. Preferably her, out a window. I don't think I'm gonna make it through this book. Hero's narrator's voice is awesome though.

I'm sad this is over. I've run out of Toni Anderson's backlist, so I guess I'll need to go back and start from the beginning with Alex Parker. Hero of all heroes.

The ending was weird and abrupt.

And yes, I do like Tripp even as nutso as he is. Vida is a little too naive for my taste. It’s kind of a weird take on the Cinderella trope.

Not nearly as bonkers as previous books and I’m enjoying that it’s longer than previous books too. Still not sure if the whole bet thing will come back to bite him on the ass tho. We shall see…

This series of books has the worst blurbs ever. They tell me nothing about the contents of the book and what to expect. It’s like someone must randomly jotted down a couple sentences as notes and called it a day and then never bothered to update them in a decade.

Doing a reread since I flew through this book the first time and I want to savor it now that I know what’s happening.

This entire series is adorable and so fun. Loving it.

The premise had so much potential, but the writing was static and bland. And so much telling. Should have checked the Goodreads rating before downloading it and being disappointed. The tenses in the writing could use a good edit too. It bounces all over the place and makes my brain hurt.

WTH? The book finished at 77% and the rest of it was the beginning of the next book? How is this even allowed?

I’m gonna call it. If the story doesn’t improve and become less wackadoodle, this one is gonna be a three-star read.

Well, this just got strange and took a little waltz into bizzaro land. The whole plot just got so far fetched that even suspending disbelief is taking a lot of effort and it’s not quite working.
