The nature of The Force, light and dark, how the midichlorians connect different species to it, is another big plot point. It's this scientific treatment, Forceology?, Is actually really working for me.

This book features a wider array of species than most of the books I've read. It's also heavy on the history of the Galaxy. A much denser read than usual. But still highly enjoyable so far.

“...only when he was drunk could he bring himself to speak about [his father].” P. 13 fitting since his father was an alcoholic.

Every chapter has a different narrator...and all of them are miserable. Not sure how much longer I'm going t last.
