Reading this for work, the most eye-opening 100 pages. Ignoring trafficking issues, warning signs, and its presence in the U.S. because it’s a rough topic is so dangerous and only serves to perpetuate cycles of hopelessness for victims. Traffickers are comfortable as long as we are silent.

Wow. No review I could give would communicate the power behind Perry’s writing because it is so inextricably rooted to the truth and power of scripture. Read this book. That is all.

Rio, if the goal was to make the characters pretentious, by God you’ve done it. Not a single person so far is at all likable. Ready for whoever it is to die already

First time reading Perry and I love her writing style and the way she communicates the character of God. Also she pulled no punches in describing the impact of absentee father-ism on personal understandings of identity and love. Dang.

Modifying the previous update, the later sections of the book are markedly better than the first. I like the use of Mannaseh’s story as a tangible example of the depth of God’s grace and the mark of true repentance in a world so gripped by the shame of sin

Ngl, I’m not having a good time. Reading this for church group, but if I weren’t I would’ve quit. I understand the main intention of the messaging here, but it’s just not done well and the only scripture in the book is used to affirm Farrar’s personal anecdotes rather than serving as the foundation

Even knowing the ending, I’m not prepared. 7th grade me certainly couldn’t handle it, and I’m not ready now either. Tune in later.
