The second book in the Matthew Shardlake series is as good as the first. Sansom catches the period details brilliantly. Even the minor characters are well-drawn. I found myself more interested in the subplot concerning a teenaged girl accused of murder. If you're familiar with the career of Thomas Cromwell, you're already spoiled, but it's a worthwhile journey from fictional events to historical facts.
