*and by actually I knew it would be like holistically good but it’s also not a slog to read and is good in pieces too. It IS very dense so I’m starting it a few weeks before it’s due for a class in the fall because I’m already a slow reader

I might not finish this before school starts, in fact I'm taking a break starting in August to focus on some school-related things. But this has been so thought-provoking, thorough, generous and challenging, and altogether helpful in my own work! I've really enjoyed this.

I think we’ve lost the thread as readers and writers, consumers of art, on the subversive and sometimes perverse counter culture confessions of artists… which certainly reached one fever pitch mid century… mm more thoughts later probably
