Very interesting looks back. Enjoying it; just taking my time and reading/doing other things while reading a few pages of this here and there.

It's going in fits and starts. Some of it I'm enjoying; some I'm not.

I've really enjoyed the other Amy Tan books I've read. Hoping I enjoy this one despite the awful reviews some other folks have given it. We'll see...

Decent but not great so far. Interesting content; not as crazy about the writing style/word choices.

I've had this book on my to-read list and book wish list for probably twenty years. Wasn't a high priority, so didn't buy it. Finally got some sense - started going through old lists & instead of waiting for someone to give me these, or to find an inexpensive copy at a second-hand store, borrowing from the library (which I hadn't thought to check for many of these, for some reason). Looking forward to reading this.

Arielle Masters is on page 174 of 368 of The Zookeeper's Wife
I read the first few pages back around Thanksgiving, then set it aside to read The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln for book club, then went back to this book around December 7th or 8th. Read a few more pages that week, but not many; didn't really start reading this until December 14th or 15th. Still, it's kind of poking along. Lots more about animals than people early on - started slowly. Getting better now.

Disliked this book so much that I stopped reading it and left it in a book box (an unofficial Little Free Library). Hope someone else enjoys it more than I did.

Still an irritating book. At least he stopped those stupid "in the next chapter..." comments. Reincarnation? Really? There's a little action, some traveling, some dialogue, and a lot of tedium. The best parts are the descriptions of the traveling and how they're living. I'm torn between ditching the book and donating it now and slogging through just to see how he projects the historical timeline. Very tedious.

Just finished the first book. Quite annoying so far. His actual writing is mostly decent, but he interrupts it constantly. He uses free verse-like lists in places rather than full sentences. He ends each chapter with "now read the next chapter" and "we never see so-and-so again" type sentences. It's an alternate history, but it's fantasy, not sci-fi. Lots of afterlife mumbo-jumbo. UGH.

Not reading as much right now as I'd like - dealing with a Mac/Google Drive sync problem and refreshing my Python and JavaScript in preparation for starting a new part-time job shortly.

This is the next book for the library book club I'm in. If I ever read it - and I don't think I did - it was just the very abridged kiddie version. Have not started it yet. Will probably read it electronically.
