There is currently no conflict nor character change because the main characters are currently in a utopia where nothing bad happens but I suspect that a conflict will soon occur later in the book.

Lev is brave. Lev goes into a high-security Siberian base at midnight to rescue Matthew only, which could easily result in both of them getting caught and receiving the death sentence for the both of them. "Be quiet, don't make a sound." (190) This quote shows how risky Lev rescuing Matthew is.

While I was reading I came across an example of personification. "Carefully, he slides down the trunk, cursing at his screaming feet;" This is an example of personification because feet don't actually scream, the author was saying this to represent how much Matthew's foot actually hurts. And it hurts a lot.

I can infer that London is in danger. I inferred this because London, USA, Germany, and 10 other smaller countries are at war with Russia and China. And when a county's at war it means that it is in danger.

I can infer that Matthew doesn't like [Theo] Arkam. "but his [Matthew's] heart sinks when he spots Theo Arkam." (77). This quote shows that Matthew was displeased or unhappy with the witness of Arkam.

Matthew is curious. "Matthew then went on the Nexus [the future's internet] to search for Mr. Lestrange" (67). This quote shows that Matthew is curious because not only had he looked for Mr. Lestrange but 4 other people too. Matthew better be evasive because if he's not he could get into quite the predicament.

Clara is Nasty. When Clara finds Matthew looking through his window at her; she immediately assumes he's stalking her. She also kept saying so when she met him face to face. "...and the last thing I need is a teenage stalker." (63).

This book is narrated with a first person view; the narrator's name is Matthew. The setting is in Southern England November 2055. This affects the story because, the people have more advanced technology. That means that it's easier to access data; if there's a problem it's more easily solved.

I found it shocking when Clara, the girl going to piano lessons next door was playing Bach, Matthew's dad's favorite classical music artist. I was also surprised at how Matthew didn't cry after hearing it because his dad and him used to listen to Bach. But it's been two years since Matthew's dad died and he hasn't dared listen to it since.

I am confused as to why the author thinks the technology is so advanced in 2045. It's only 26 years from now. Surely it'd take longer to develop technology you'd see it science-fiction movies.

I found it funny when Rafe arrived at "planet cathedral" which is what Rafe calls his art school. It was funny because, he describes it as some distant planet where everything's bizarre. He described the other students. As "aliens", and that they had ten heads and such.

I was shocked when Rafe made it into Cathedral Arts. I was shocked because the way he described his interview, it sounded like application was going to be declined.
