Every single man in this book is despicable, I wish Jane would just end up by herself and forget all of them

How many times are people going to say to Jane Eyre that she is "not handsome"? The poor girl

Uuugh I hate M. Rochester with a passion?? How can anyone find him excuses??

not gonna lie, I am quite intimidated...

I have been enjoying it so far, I love the conversation around language and colonialism (though it is not overt). And I have been fascinated by the descriptions of weaving (my last name means the weaver and I hope I can learn how to do it someday)
Also I can relate to some of the rural elements of the novel (having grown on a farm with Texel ewes too!)

Only halfway through the main story, I am not gonna lie it is hard for me to get into the story. Sometimes I am distracted by the footnotes and I feel like I will enjoy the paratext more than the main narrative, but oh well I am pushing through (I knew it would take me ages to finish this one)

sooooo excited to start reading this one even though i al extremely intimidated, it will probably take me ages to finish it.
I am choosing to first read the novel in itself (+translator's foreword and annotations) and then go back to the annotations, wish me luck

This is soooo hard to keep reading, I cannot suspend my disbelief at times and I get angry at the book, but I will try to push through (this will not get a great review from me)

Aaaah it is really good so far, so many themes veiled under a sci fi story

People were not lying, this book is funny, exactly the type of humor I enjoy

Emma reminds me a little of Arabella from The Female Quixote, misinterpreting aaaaaall the signs of affection

My mind is bursting with ideas and interpretations as I am reading this book. This is all that I want from a great book

Surprisingly very compelling and easy to read, I am enjoying it so far

It's taking me longer than I expected, unfortunately it is not as entertaining after the first essay

The first essay was really good but I was disappointed by the following two. The la guage is clearly outdated and some terms are offensive for today's standards. There are some nuggets of wisdom though

Very similar experience as when I was reading The Society of the Spectacle by Debord. It is making me question my own use of images and social media. I feel like I will love this collection of essays
