Tana French is one of very few writers I am okay with taking 100 pages of just setting the scene, especially because this is the 3rd book in a series, but...I'll allow it

This is really interesting but also dense and I am not sure my brain has the capacity for it. Still: I like hearing about Jews in history who fought back against actual oppressors in Europe (in contrast to Israel’s war of aggression).

I kept feeling while reading this that I could almost hear Dolly's voice, and so I got the audiobook and it is the best version. There is no transcribing her. The art in the physical version is awesome tho.

Somehow I feel like of all the Jane Austen fan fiction that has been written in the last 200ish years, Austen would love the lesbian stories the best

This is on the dry side, but it definitely covers a lot of extremely complex history.

This is well written and intriguing but damn why is nearly everyone incapable of writing about DC and all the inside the beltway conniving with even the tiniest bit of realism?

This is for our faculty/staff bookclub and it is terrible. I have never rly liked any of the books we have read but this may be the worst

The more of this series I read, the more I think: god, why does anyone play hockey?? and also the only well-adjusted person in this whole universe is the emotional support straight Wyatt

I’ve been saving this one and man it’s good. It is hard to find the non romcom romances these days but they do exist and this one is very quality.

I feel like I shouldn’t give up on this when I’m so far along, but the male protagonist is so horrible I kind of want to. du Maurier as always excels at writing men you can’t wait to see dead

This is reminding me why I love mysteries but damn is it dark

There are many reasons it’s sad Andre Leon Talley is dead, but one is definitely that I can never sit down with him and have tea and listen to him telling me about his extraordinary life. This book is the next best thing.

This is so good but so beyond my level of emotional tolerance right now. Putting on pause.

I will admit I am that basic bitch who has had this on my Kindle for at least ten years and is now reading it after he died

It’s annoying when a book is as good as Oprah says it is. (Jk, I love Oprah and I love Ocean.) I want to quit my job just so I can read this all in one go.

“I’m not so interested in things getting better as getting honest.”

This is hands down the best cultural criticism I have read in years. The essay on Springsteen is extraordinary.

This was supposed to be my distraction feel-good book and I'm pretty sure I am going to cry by the end of it. Why are there not more cat memoirs?

This is not what I expected it to be, but still masterful.

This is basic in some ways but also radical just because its premise is that the history of disabled people is as important as all other history.

"circling his swelling protuberance" is maybe the worst phrase I have ever heard uses in porn, and like...I have Seen Some Things

I am ready for this to be absolute delicious vampire/werewolf trash

This is so good!!! The dialogue is masterful.

This is way more horror-like than I thought it would be but damn, it is well written

Have just started this so am not sure where it is going but wow the world-building is ASTOUNDING
