Taking a while with this one. It is a slooooow burn in every way. The writing is wonderfully atmospheric—both the setting and characters feel believable. But, the characters aren’t particularly likable so far and my attention span is waning. Since this is an ARC, I’m gonna push forward a bit longer, but this may become a dnf.

Perhaps it’s simply the magnified effect of both currently living in and reading about the dreary PNW winter, but I’m having trouble finding enthusiasm for this one. I’ve enjoyed the previous books I’ve read of Cherie Priest’s, but, after a decent intro, I find myself dragging my way through the rest of it.
