Just finished the first book. Didn't like the first half, but then it all clicked, and I can see why this was such a monumental publication. Forget the stupid tilting at windmills bit. Everything pop culture knows about Don Quixote happens in the first 50 pages, and isn't that great (though it's necessary). It's what Cervantes does with so many elements as a whole that makes this great. I'll pick the sequel up later.
