Struggling to make it through this book

The situations are described in depth, but I wish there were better character and setting descriptions

We learn she is putting all her energy towards protecting her memories that hold valuable secrets and growing a baby and is not expected to survive to birth the child. Throughout then entirety of her detainment, everyone plays mind games on Helena. Now we need to learn what her captors secrets are and where his allegiance lies

We end part 1 with Helena discovered as a preserved prisoner of war with no prior history and hidden memories. She’s fruitlessly interrogated and detained by the grand necromancer’s prospective successor. His spiteful wife unsuccessfully tries to harm her and is removed. Helena is then put into the repopulation program where she is raped by her captor until she quickly becomes pregnant.
