Tosin Bamidele is on page 135 of 341 of The Complete Persepolis
I've read other books by female illustrators from the Gulf area, but reading Persepolis felt personal to me in many ways. It being one of Satrapi's early works is one of the many reasons for my pull to this book. Without generalizing, I've gained a better understanding (and respect!) of my Persian ladies in ways I didn't before. Definitely recommend.

Tosin Bamidele is on page 60 of 336 of The Good Immigrant: 26 Writers Reflect on America
This is a great read for my commutes to/from work. It’s a series of essays I find uniquely written by each author, yet so relatable to my immigrant experience. I intentionally immerse myself in every word written, as though they’re hugs I need for survival. It’s a very personal book for me.

“But it is enough to declare and identify that our interests, as architects, are in line with the interests of society. We cannot always be clear about how we do what we do, but we can be clear about why we do what we do, and its results should speak to our motives.”

“Discernment raises the question, “what am I feeling?” in hopes of working through, rather than getting stuck in, the emotional space. This fosters a wise listening of the Four’s longing, rather than a more compulsive submission to it.”

“We too often look for a voice “out there” to guide us, when very often the voice we need to listen to is within. External voices and influences can certainly help, but we should never rely upon them at the expense of the Divine within. From this place of Divine Love we can hear guidance without pretense, insight without agenda, and encouragement without disclaimers.”

“We all face limits—not just in talent, but in opportunity. But more often than we think, our limits are self-imposed. We try, fail, and conclude we’ve bumped our heads against the ceiling of possibility. Or maybe after taking just a few steps we change direction. In either case, we never venture as far as we might have.”
