I really enjoy the human, clear-eyed author’s voice in this cynical look at the American grocery industry. It may be nonfiction, but hardly ever dry. Surprised how much I’m liking this!

I used to think this book was headed someplace cool, but by this point really have had enough of the pseudo-philosophical sex scenes. Especially the Oedipal ones?? Like come on, man. I’m still holding out to maybe see where the dream logic ties up its loose ends.

I’m starting to get the jokes about how Murakami writes women. Still, really enjoying the vague mystical feeling of the book as it slowly grows darker.

Okay so if you’re not familiar with foundational 2nd/3rd wave feminist ideas and gender inequality concepts, this is really important stuff. Read it. But for me personally, every point so far has been one I know well and don’t especially care to listen to over again for 9 hours straight. Not sure I’ll finish this.

Good Lordy Moses I am confused, what happened to the last book’s plot? We’re in a big ol scramble and yes it’s intentional on the author’s part, but I have yet to discover why. Bring back my favorite character! Wow I haven’t enjoyed a series this much since middle school?

Intentionally boring so far, to a confusing extent. The elderly widow hermit voice is impressively convincing, but maybe I’m just swayed by the audiobook reader. I do like the eerie sense our narrator is about to work herself into a paranoid frenzy over nothing but a note in the woods. Could go anywhere from here.
