Finally made it through 'Inferno'. I can see why this had become so well-known and popular. It's loaded with references to ancient Greek and Roman mythology and Italian political history, and Dante displays a subtle sense of humour throughout this first part. One thing that stood out to me was that the inner circle of hell is frozen, in contrast to all imagery of hell being all fire. On to 'Purgatorio' now!
