Finished this is a day! Could not put it down. I feel like this is an important book not just about Arab women and their oppressive culture but about woman and shame in general. Really gripped me from the very beginning.

I really don’t get why this book has been so popular. Too many characters and I didn’t connect to any of them. Perhaps it is a cultural thing?

This book should be required reading for EVERYONE! I really think this is exactly what the world needs right now. And I don’t just mean those whom I believe to be wrong, I mean those of us who are so afraid of the state of the world. Things are bad yes but they are still slowly improving.

I would have given this 4 stars but I really didn’t care for the ending. Lots of interesting plot twist ultimately turned too convoluted for me.

Great book! Wish I had read it when My daughter was younger. Great perspectives for parenting and life in general. Talent x effort= skill; skill x effort = achievement. So while talent is an advantage it is effort that factors in twice. Great tips on how to breed grit and passion.

Loved this book. Great storyline. This is one of those where I wish there was a 4.5 star rating, not quite 5 so have to give it a 4

Who else has read this book? I am really enjoying it. Plants, Historical Fiction and now it is getting spiritual. I am torn between wanting to finish fast and savor the moments

I am about 25% into this audio book. I picked it up from the library on cd to listen to in the car because I recalled a couple of people mentioning it as something they recommended. So far it feels like a history lesson and even though I am a person who likes historical fiction that is not meant as a compliment. Hoping it gets more interesting soon.

I am actually retreading this one. I read this about 4 years ago, but as Sonja is about to turn 13 next week, it is definitely time for a refresher. I highly recommend it to Mom's of all tween and young teen girls.

This is a very interesting read. The history is really interesting being as it is set here in Forsyth County, the supernatural story line seems slightly hokey at times but has really got me curious now. I think today is going to be a serious reading day--Need to figure out what it's all about. Good read, especially for locals, but not just.

Really enjoying the history in this. Makes me want to read slow so I can picture everything. Think I may like this one even better than the first.
