Not what I was expecting.

Struggling a bit with this one

This is NOT a graphic novel. It's a character study with some illustrations at the end.

Finishing this on audio. Got tired of reading about the author's RCMP bashing. But I want to see if he has anything interesting to say and that's easier on audio for me.

I think I know what's happening. I hope I'm wrong....

I'm not understanding the fuss over this book. So far nothing has happened and I'm 60% finished. The very first line of the description says there's a mudslide, but not yet there isn't. And that secret love affair is mentioned once (I'm assuming that's the one the description refers to). So far, it's pretty disappointing.

Ah, now we have an actual mystery. Took a while to get there, but the descriptions of the scenery really make me want to go out West.

Author injects himself a lot into his narrative: "the author" being a favourite method.

Also, "as will be explained later" is also injected often. So far, not much is being explained.

It's also unintentionally funny at times: like the one theory that JFK's assassin came up through the sewers while the crowd was looking up towards the book depository is just laughable.

First 20% of this book is a biography of the author.

There are a lot of Americans and a lot of men interviewed. Maybe a handful of women and even fewer non-Americans. And many politicians.
