This quote about resistance and revolution gave me pause.

"Revolution might sound a little dramatic, but in this world, choosing authenticity and worthiness is absolute act of resistance. Choosing to live with our whole hearts is an act of defiance."

"Sometimes the courage to be true to yourself comes in the form of an out-loud declaration, a rebellion, or a love-drenched vow…Mighty or discreet, authenticity is the muscle that helps you shake up beliefs, policies, and restraints, and gives you the strength to do the things some say can’t be done."

Yesterday, I recognized a familiar story in the author's early college years of drop-in/drop-out before completing her degrees and a connecting thread to her research method of choice--grounded theory. Today, on a hunch I've gone back and re-examined her guidepost resources section for researchers and thrill seekers. I think that I may just have a found a reductive solution to a problem that I've been working on!

"Like a weed that wiggles its way through the concrete to find the light, we adapt to our environment. If we tolerate a home that doesn't feel like us, chances are we'll tolerate a relationship that doesn't feel quite right either or we'll keep staying at a job that's just "okay." ...how we live "in here" at home translates into how we translates into how we live "out there"

p. 125 "Betrayal is an important word with this guidepost. When we value being cool and in control over granting ourselves the freedom to unleash the passionate, goofy, heartfelt, and soulful expressions of who we are, we betray ourselves. When we consistently betray ourselves, we can expect to the same to the people we love."
