This has been a tough read, especially as I've had a lot going on in my personal life. But I'm getting there...

Finally finding my rhythm with this book. It turns out what I thought would be 800+ pages of serious, philosophical Victorian literature is just one very, very, very long gossip session. The townspeople of Middlemarch immediately know everyone's business as soon as it happens, and their commitment to meddling is impressive.

Slowly getting there. Dorothea deserves so much better and she has no idea. Casaubon, my god. What a hideous character. His emotional coldness mixed with a deep insecurity that makes him demand praise is just too much at times. I'm not really in the headspace to be reading about emotionally abusive men, but I've committed to this book so there's no turning back now.

Finally reading the tome that's been at the very top of my tbr list for years. See you in a few weeks. Please water my plants.

I love a good tale of family dysfunction, and this is S tier. Where have you been all my life, Mr. Franzen?

Slowly getting there

Made it through the preface with the help of Sadler's Half Hour Hegel series. Appreciate Hegel following in Kant's footsteps in his desire to move philosophy from a matter of feeling and inspiration into the realm of science. Also liked his perspective on how you cannot separate the process from the results, that truth is not a static final answer but the entire cycle of development it took to discover it.

Decent, but the pacing was uneven. Didn't do it for me like the first volume did.
