Angel is starting On the Come Up
I'm listening to this (currently on disc 4 of 10) and absolutely love it. I was going back and forth between print and audiobook, because I'm impatient, but the narrator does such a good job that I eventually returned the print book, because I would rather hear it!

So far, Aaron and I both like this book. The questions have a surprising amount of depth and relevance compared to other conversation starter books I've found. We are learning more about each other, which is fun when you have been with someone for almost a decade!

So far, lots of food for thought, though the academic style of his writing and gratuitous quotes make for a slower read.

I am down for comfy clothes, blankets, and candles...not so much into baking elaborate foods...

I love this book so far! Not a huge fan of the author addressing the reader directly as it is a bit distracting, but I can't stop turning the pages...I need to find out what happens to Laylee! 💕

Angel is reading The Mama's Boy Myth: Why Keeping Our Sons Close Makes Them Stronger
Great story combating the myth of the maladjusted Mama's boy. A bit too many Oedipus references for me...yes we are all aware...but some good research and lots of anecdotes that make me feel like I'm not alone in wanting the powerful bond I experience with my son to last forever and that he'll be stronger because of it!

I absolutely adored this book and I usually hate books in verse. It was such a gorgeous and intimate story about a child-refugee's experience. I can't believe I waited so long to read it!

Angel is reading You Bring the Distant Near
I really liked the characters in the beginning of the book, but going onto the next generation, there wasn't as much detail put into them and the whole ending felt rushed. If you are going to have a book spanning generations, it's okay to be longer. Loved seeing how Ranee changed over the decades, she was the best character, besides Sonia.

This is pretty much the exact plot of the Talented Mr. Ripley. I expected so much more from Lockhart.

Not for me, but I'm glad I tried it. I know folks that would definitely love it! Cool illustrations throughout!

LOVED LOVED LOVED it! I am so glad I stuck with the audiobook version. Alchemy, exploration, pirates (well..sort of!), and queer romance makes for an awesome coming of age story.

Angel is reading Turtles All the Way Down
Meh? The mystery was boring to me, the kids talk like pretentious hipsters and don't seem like authentic teenage voices...I think the most interesting thing about it was viewing OCD through John Green's lens (he also has OCD). John Green's writing style kind of annoys me, but I could barely limp through this one.

One of my favorite books of the year! Absolutely wonderful! The comparisons to To Kill a Mockingbird made me skeptical, but this is definitely a new classic.
