back at it again. read 1/2 of probably 6 different books before coming back to Maggie Nelson

Re-reading for the Claire Danes version. Better than I remember it being (maybe because I'm older and wiser?), but probably just Claire Danes.

this is probably the most self indulgent book of all time

I recognize this is obnoxious, but I also love mitchell. and it is compulsively readable because eugenides.

seems so divisive, I had to see for myself, having read his other two books. I get a lot of book recommendations from my two best friends that are at odds on this particular one, but I really need a substantial novel to be happy right now and want to see what the deal is. so tired of the short fiction game.

It's like Faulkner and Steinbeck had a less depressing baby - super good.

Idk this is going down hill. Poorly executed magical realism. Really one dimensional characters. It was just kind of funny in the beginning but it is losing its charm.

This is the third book I've started recently to fill the "quick novel" part of my repertoire and I really think this one is going to stick.
