Becoming slightly bogged down. Still cute vignettes, but the pacing...is...slowly...losing my....attention.

Not enjoying this...

Too frenetic, dropping.

Appropriate for the Easter season, oui? B-)

Meeting my Feb author reading goal with a novella...

I give up. I personally can't handle explicit depictions of physical cruelty. It's me, not the author. 6 traumas before page 100 is too much for me.

The "conversation" monologues are growing tiresome.
All these vignettes better mesh soon...

Enjoyed the twins' chapter > the Marquees segment.

Bit of a slog, this section, very philosophical. But muscling through bec it's.mostly.still.funny.

I've reached the point where something awful is about to happen to/with the dogs. I've delayed reading further, for now....Strong writing , but I dunno if my squeamish nature's going to make it.

Loving the teen protagonist narrator's voice. "As I wasn't myself a noble hero with a limitless store of mana and all the sense of an unvarnished deck chair, I went down slowly and cautiously."

I hereby abandon this novel.

1950s horror...I could read it with today's 3rd grader. Awww.

A likeable admirable male protagonist...I think I'm experiencing mild symptoms of shock.

Chapman may've helped save Britain but, lawzy, he is a douche of a human being. Just saying....

This novel is a slow burn.

Heart-wrenching. Beautiful translation, but I'm needing stops to process. Unsure I'll finish the annual challenge with this one.

I'm enduring the florid writing style thus far...

Beneath the beauty and the charm and the sharp sparkle of her personality, [Mom] had a core of steel. She was like a blade wrapped in a bouquet of orchids.
Enjoyed reading. Good creepy Other characters. Good pacing. I did anticipate the"twist" , plus the ending felt rushed/sequel set-up-ish.
Contemporary settings and salty teen language.
"This isn't fate, Finch, this is getting bullied by supernatural assholes."

I'm savoring this novel.

Narrative is ....bogging down....slowing....slowing.
