I loved the art in Battle Chasers, but sadly it's not a particularly good read.

The characters are one dimensional tropes

So far no sign of the main plot, or interesting characters. Just an underground railway knock off about and some rumblings about concepts that are poorly explained.

I enjoyed Cold Iron but so far I'm not enjoying this book. What a disaster this is so far.

So I heard a lot of good things about this book, but so far I'm bored to tears, I find all the characters uninteresting, the lack of dialogue overall makes it a rather dull read because I'm told about the characters rather than shown them via their dialogue and the way they speak. I heard such good things about Hobb. Does this get any less awful? Not to mention, I hate the naming scheme. It's so on the nose bad..

Two stories in -- really discovering a love for H.P Lovecraft, whose work I tried to read in the past but, for one reason or another just never hooked me. What absolutely stunning prose. Makes for an excellent compendium of stories I read my girlfriend at bedtime.

Fictionalized accounts are fun but this is a tad ridiculous. The author takes far too many liberties. The first scene opens with glaring contradictions to reality and immediately spoils the tone of the rest of the book.

Woo! One third of the way through the book and *nothing* has happened. No cultural consistency. Very poor world-building, characters are pretty bland thus far and the author uses the term "China" to describe fine plates etc in a universe where China does not exist.

The naming scheme of characters in this book is absolutely nonsensical. "Davian. Jin. Wirr. Asha. Sarr." None of these sound like they belong to a similiar language or culture at all.

A disordered, ursine eyebrow rose as Carnomere garded me with no less mistrust than he seemed to bestow upon the world at large.
