does anyone here have Fable? I’ve been trying it out every so often and it looks very promising for the social aspect but I only have 2 friends now hahaha

I almost never post mid-reading updates unless I’m not enjoying a book but this is the exception

not only is the book great and I just love the way it’s very accessible sci-fi to science noobs but also: the audiobook version by ray porter is SO GOOOOD (if you ignore the inaccurate Dutch accent but he is forgiven)

if you saw me start two books in one day, no you didn’t (this one’s sort of a buddy read)

multiple people have described this as love island meets lord of the flies so NATURALLY I couldn’t wait until I finished my current read and just decided to dive in

sorry but what is this??? reading the reviews I’m thinking it’ll do a 180 in the second half and actually get good and interesting? I have never cared so little for any storyline as I am doing now for ivan and margaret

also I am going insane reading peter’s pov (I know it’s an ~artistic choice~ but idc it just makes me stressed reading like that)

loving most narrators but anne is soooo whiny and the background sounds and spatial audio are tickling in a bad way

felt like reading a book because I WANT to read it, not because I HAVE to for my master’s BUT wanted to finish it quickly so I can start funny story on pub day - so here we are with this 151-pager!! have been wanting to read it ever since I finished jane eyre though so I’m excited

chapter one being on the irrationality of the swiftie fandom immediately got me hooked

I love a good slow pace but lord this one is NOT for me

it’s like he’s INSIDE my brain, truly proves that I have never had an original thought in my life

(even though I’m only page 39/620 I already want to recommend this to everyone because I giggle like nick offerman at every single thought the mc has)

was in the mood for a light and easy read and reading when in rome was a breeze, but this one has been…. boring, I guess

I love a good written-by-a-woman man but it’s just too on the nose with will griffin and I’ve already rolled my eyes at least thirty times

if you saw me rereading* this within a year of finishing it no you didn’t

*listening to the audiobook this time though because aoife mcmahon’s narration is always so good

please tell me it gets better, I am so bored

I find the timeline VERY confusing??? One moment she’s 24, then she’s 17, then she’s 21, I can’t keep up

not really feeling it rn, think it’ll be a perfect read for the colder weather so putting it on hold until then (I think)

already SO disappointed by this, fucking helL

has the author ever met a 5 y/o child because the dialog is so unrealistic it makes me want to yell

also it is just poor writing imo, I’m halfway through the book and nothing interests me, the characters and the story are SO flat, I’m seriously debating dnf’ing this, but I REFUSE because I was so excited to read this

dnf’ing at the moment because I’m truly not enjoying it right now. I don’t like 3/4 of the characters and the storyline apparently doesn’t interest me + I’m feeling very ill with covid so I need a book I actually enjoy reading
