DNF. Just couldn’t into it.

DNF.

Kind of stuck with this book.

I’ve put this book on hold for now. It’s sort of tedious.

3.5 rounded down. Interesting perspective of the Chinese side. However, I had a hard time keeping track of all the Chinese officials and their power grabs. The amount of times people flip flopped allegiances was completely unrealistic. And it appears everybody lost track of why they were in the “game” to begin with. Library has book 4, so I shall read it.

Could not finish this book. Depressing and outdated.

Re- listening to this book, which is very current again. The unimaginable happening. 1984. The Handmaid's Tale, and this.

To achieve greatness one has to be first and foremost great to begin with. Then you need love and nurturing. And then- timing and hard work.

So preachy, I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish it. Terribly disappointed.

I’m a big Nesbo fan, but this adaptation does not work for me.

March book of the month for “now read this”

It's rare for me to abandon a book, but this one, with so much potential, didn't inspire.
I started it because of a friend.

I almost gave up on this book after a few chapters. The characters are cliches and the descriptions are so stereotypical its banal.
A mystery finally appeared, so I'm going forward.

Ive opted for the audio version without trying the sample. Big mistake!! The narrator is terrible! Not sure I can keep going. He constantly gasps for air and his pronunciation of Japanese names and items are wrong!!

Could not get through this one. It's a shame because I really liked her "Incident Report ".

so far, I have to agree with one reviewer who said:

One started and hoped for some historical insight, but the getting is only an imagined and romanticised intrigue.
the author projects modern day sensibilities on the ancient times.
