I honestly don’t know where this story is going at the moment but I’m loving the writing, the wit, the vivid description, and when I sometimes swap to the audiobook, the narrator is amazing (Steven Pacey!).

Why am I forcing myself to read this when it annoys me so much. Booktok said it was as good as Red Rising but it is nowhere close to Pierce Brown.

“Or there’s that strange old story about the brothers being turned into swans.”

Love a little reference to Sevenwaters!

Hard to give a shit about the main character when he’s a noble who looks down on regular people and is so far unlikeable.

“We brush away light resistance…”

When you come from the chapter before this line, you realise it’s just one of the perfect POV changes in this book. Absolutely brilliant.
