While technically a re-read, it's been more than two decades.

This one has been brutal compared to News of the World. I just ran across a great cameo of Captain Kidd from News of the World though, and then I remembered that Britt Johnson also showed up in the other book.

Really enjoying Jiles' prose, but this is a super tough read due to the violence.

I'm rather disappointed so far, while I do like this super cozy series, it does not translate well to audio. There is way too much dialog between too many characters so that the audio is just "Lindsay said..." "Beth asked....." "......Sully responded" for minutes at a time. This makes it hard to follow. Next in the series I'm sure I'll just read it instead of listen to it.

This should be interesting. I'm no stranger to cats helping their sleuth companions in books, but so far the story is told completely from the point of view of the cat. It's cute so far, well except for the murder :)

This is a new year, new me thing. I'm trying to be ok with DNF'ing books. And this one hasn't pulled me in yet. Still, it's got great reviews, and in fact I see that it really picks up after 100 pages, so I'm keeping with it! I do think it's a neat world with necromancers and the different Houses and the setting is unique for a "fantasy" book.

So far I'm looking this one even more than the first. I think it's because I'm listening to an audiobook, and the narrator is just fantastic!

Random choice for me from the library - I loved the Feed series by this author so thought I would try some others. I don't normally read urban fantasy so trying to keep an open mind. The book is good so far, 4 chapters in.

I've never read a Mary Higgins Clark book, figured I might as well give one a try. I'm listening to the audiobook on my morning walks. It's kind of like reading Reader's Digest, and almost a cozy (it's just missing some of those essential cozy elements like the cute town, the quaint shop). But no cuss words, no sex, not even any kissing that I've heard so far. Just a brutal murder, but the rest of very PG at worst.

Well. Not as great yet as I thought it would be based on the hype and reviews, but I'm still going to finish.

The most compelling book of the whole series. I've really enjoyed the changing timelines and perspectives. I love the overall American Gothic feel of the book, even though it does take place in California.

The audiobook is great, I like the reader's Mr Contreras accent! And oh my goodness, I loved hearing the descriptions and experiences of the Chicago Symphony :)

I'm loving this book so far, it has pulled me right in and kept me up past my bedtime. It's a short read, but I'm a slow reader and I enjoy savoring my reading time to its fullest potential. Great social commentary on American society woven into a fast-paced story with well developed characters, what's not to like?
