Heat 2 is for fans of the classic crime thriller by Michael Mann, and anyone who enjoys a crime novel. Providing "what happens next" perspective on the surviving member of McCauley's criminal group, Chris Shiherlis. The novel also provides a prequel to the events in the original film looking at Vincent Hanna's career as well as McCauley's activities prior to the jobs the team take on in the original film.

I have found this an engaging read. Partly due to Sales fabulous writing, but also because Sales take on the existential question of what does tomorrow hold? None of us know. But some of the people that Leigh Sales interviews, have gone through the darkest days and been able find a way rebuild a life after everything around them feels shattered. It is remarkable but the seed is sown quite early "is it...?"
