SPOILER: here’s my conjecture, I think Josephine did it all so she could be in one of her detective novels. But why do that, because then there’s nothing for her to figure out?

Seeing what’s happened to Nikolai is the most emotional I’ve gotten at a book in years.

Okay, excuse me? They’re going to show Alina off to bolster an alliance when they just killed a whole crew to keep her hidden? That doesn’t make any sense. I thought their goal was to keep her survival a secret.

Her narrative summary on Morozova’s journals as they’re leaving the White Cathedral makes me think that the Darkling has to be Morozova.

McGee uses the word “almost” WAY too much.

I really don’t know where else the book can go! The last little bit is a mystery for me to discover

The new colored snakes remind Snow of the colors of Lucy Gray’s reaping dress.

It’s definitely a new story with new characters and I really like how it’s going, but there are still elements that make it feel like Collins is hanging onto the fame of the original series. And it’s not stale or anything, but there’s a form of nostalgia there? But I like how the new recalls the old, and back and back.

I’m afraid she’s going to make me like him, and I don’t want her to. I don’t want to sympathize. But I can envision a world in which his experience with Lucy Gray, and the treatment of the tributes, leads to him influencing the process to make it the short lived pampering and luxury that we see in HG.

It’s crazy to see in retrospect how everything developed and evolved. The Capitol Arena being an amphitheater. The assignment of Capitol mentors, and tentative interviews.

So many differences already! It’s so interesting to see the Hunger Games not only from the perspective of the Capitol, but also from the pioneering days of the tradition.

I think about, and plan, my goals a lot. How often do I actually do the work associated with that planning? Do the work that needs to be done to accomplish those goals?
