I’m on page 300 and still nary a mention of a pickle

I started reading this because supposedly it’s similar to Dire Bound and I wanted something to tide me over until Fury Bound comes out in a few weeks…
Let’s just say I’d rather be reading Fury Bound lol

Now why would they leave the hatch open??

I have to say I was not anticipating any LGBTQ representation in 1800s Russian literature, but so far we have had a sapphic romance, a gay crush, and now a transgender character.
Respect, Tolstoy.

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve been so invested in a book that I want to keep reading instead of going to sleep!!

Finished Book 1 (of 4)!!

Finished Part 2! I wasn’t as interested in this war section because I find the society gossip and drama more interesting than battlefield tactics. However, I did enjoy the brief glimpses into the psyche of the men in battle and their different coping strategies.

We have now switched perspectives to the war part of War and Peace.

I have finished Part 1! Although it still looks like I’ve barely read anything ha…
I’m surprised by how much I’ve been enjoying this so far! It’s been really quite funny in some parts, and quite touching in other parts, as we explore daily life in Russian aristocracy. There’s a huge focus on all the intricacies of human emotions that I am finding fascinating!

I’m honestly loving this even more on re-read!

So excited to re-read and finally finish the trilogy!

Nobody told me that this book is actually hilarious.

The way he spent half a chapter talking about why he doesn’t like Evangelicals, which is the majority of Trump’s fan base haha…

It’s hard to read this objectively knowing that JD Vance has now gone back on all of his morals for political power. But I am really committed to learning more about the people of Appalachia and the circumstances that led them to supporting MAGA.
