Oh boy. This is a rough beginning.

The crime aspect should have been left off.

Still no badass from the prologue. Makes me want to read On The Beach though.

26% and the dude who’s perspective opened the prologue hasn’t returned, making the pacing feel off. The dialogue still feels off, like these aren’t real people, or at least Pete doesn’t feel American. Not a fan of the repeated use of “cabal”, and the big baddy plan that’s been speculated still feels convoluted. How did Pete survive to adulthood?

Current big bad plot feels really messy and convoluted. Pete doesn’t sound American, and dialogue seems weird almost unnatural. But will keep reading, I think I’m liking it.

Feel conflicted reading it. Something about the writing and dialogue is annoying, borderline bad in some places, but then it picks up. Guessed the naming convention of our estranged sister pretty quickly, got a giggle out of it.
