This book is fascinating, and absurdly easy to read. What a great prose writer. Why did it take me going to a university book store to find it?

Loving it!

Wow. Just wow. Image drenched prose that takes you to another realm all the while depicting horror.

Thank Goodness that Ms. Canton included a several page synopsis of the preceding 340 pages in her conclusion of her first section. This arduous enterprise of reading mystery after mystery after mystery in the revolving conversations of her 12 celestial characters was not easy to remember. I almost put this book in dnf, but something drew me back.

Since my last check in, I have baked the British scones and the…wait for it…peanut butter cookie that changed Nancy Silverton’s life. So far I have to say the scone recipes have been life changing: exposing me to new techniques and ingredients for baking. The precision of the steps is an exciting challenge. The cookie is soft and funky w the sorgham flour. The scone was delish: good alt to biscuits.

This book lacks heart. I am waiting for some or any emotional resonance but it doesn’t seem to be there. Hopefully I will finish.

This book is good even if it doesn’t maintain a sense of atmosphere.
