I just switched from an ebook to audiobook. So far, not loving it. Reading it for book club, so will continue. I usually like police procedurals, but this one isn't hooking me, yet.

I love the descriptions of 19c manners, customs, and decor.

Spoilers...

The Count of Monte Cristo has taken every opportunity to learn about everything. He's not just living on the money, he's actually using it to help better himself others. But he's also using it to learn about the people who stole 14 yrs of his life and to get revenge. He just found Mercedes. I'm hoping that works out well for both of them.

I'm on chapter 12 of 117. Listening in audio book format.

I read this decades ago for school, and enjoyed it. Listening to it for fun now because I've forgotten most of it. I'm enjoying it a lot, probably more now, as I get to read at my own pace without stressing about grades or getting my reading notes approved.

Just noticed that Audible doesn't provide page # or percentage complete. Wish they did.

It took me most of the first quarter to get hooked. I usually quit at 10% if I'm not into it, learning anything, or immersed and caring about the story. But, I had heard so many positive things about this series, and I've learned quite a bit about writing and craft from Brandon Sanderson's interviews and YouTube channel that I chose to push through. I'm glad I did. I'm fully invested now.

I'm enjoying this fantasy YA read. It seems inspired by the world of Dungeons and Dragons, but in a modern high school for those various races. Sorcery, transformation, vampires, werewolves, elves, high school drama, a peeping magician's apprentice, unknown birthrights... what's not to love?

I'm now fully hooked. It took me a bit longer than expected, as the MC deliberating about widowhood, her high school sweetheart, and the new man in her life feels a bit more like a romance than I was expecting. But the murder investigation is keeping me guessing, which is why I'm hooked.
