um holy shit, this is stunning

"If this year was bad, next year might be worse, or at the very least it might be harder. We are nothing without our quick and simple blessings, without those willing to drag optimism by its neck to the gates of grief and ask to be let in." Wow, this collection is exactly what I needed to read.

I don't typically read a lot of graphic novels, but I love books about monstrosity and the art style in this is absolutely incredible.

This experiment in North American magical realism is a love letter to NYC written in lovely, evocative prose... the problem being that Helprin wrote so darn much of it that it's kind of making me hate the city, the genre, and--most of all--descriptions of snow. I understand now why this book is so divisive.

Rereading before I start The Book of Dust!

So no one told me this would be a supernatural version of The Secret History. If they had, I totally would have read it sooner.

I've been reading this slowly because I don't want it to be over, but then I remembered.... it's a series. YAAAS.

I was afraid this book wouldn't live up to the hype, but I'm loving it so far! Clever premise. So much world-building to unpack.
