This book is terrible. I expected so much more of Ken Follett. The characters — particularly the women — are shallow. And the plot doesn't hang together. Rather than building suspense the way Robert Harris and John LeCarre write, we're stuck with:
She did not want to die, not when she had just found Tab.
She was a heartbeat away from death.
There are more...
At this point it's like rubber-necking a train-wreck.
